Cranberry sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 3 Tbsp orange marmalade
  • 2 Tbsp orange juice
  • 2 tsp orange peel, minced
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat water, sugar, and orange peel in 2qt saucepan until boiling and sugar dissolves.

  2. Add fresh and dried cranberries and cook until fresh berries begin to pop, stirring often. About 7 minutes. It will look like not enough water, but it is.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in orange marmalade, orange juice, and spices.

  4. Let cool.

  5. Cover and chill until cold. Can be made 3 days ahead.

Notes

    Original recipe used frozen cranberry juice instead of water, but that's impossible to find in stores anymore.
